With Rory McIlroy out injured and unable to defend his title, the world number two, Jordan Spieth is the bookies favourite and is closely followed by Dustin Johnson.
The Course – St. Andrews Par 72 Course Yardage 7,305 St. Andrews is one of the oldest golf courses in the world and it hosts this year’s The Open Golf Championship for a 29th time. It last hosted the Open Championship in 2010 when Louis Oosthuizen shot -16 to win by seven shots. As is the case with all Open Championship venues, St. Andrews is a links golf course, therefore links form is crucial. And due to the wide fairways, driving distance is also advantageous in my opinion, therefore expect the longer drivers of the ball to be towards the front of the leaderboard on Sunday evening.
